Having owned and operated restaurants since 1974, Ryan Condon and Dan Doyle were very aware of the many talented individuals in this business who had a desire to own their own restaurant on Folly Beach. After a five year search they were finally able to team up with a longtime friend and local resident Greg Marshall. The three of them determined that what was once an old Esso filling station on Folly, would afford the perfect opportunity to offer locals and visitors alike, a restaurant with a laid back, and relaxed coastal atmosphere. Offering beach eats prepared with fresh, local ingredients delivered with a dose of fun & friendly service. Our dock house atmosphere and huge covered patio has proven to be a great place to enjoy live local music, cool cocktails & ocean breezes.
When it came time to christen this ideal concept with a name we turned to locals, friends and family, who assisted in the decision to name it after a famous and very laid back beach on Folly.
The Washout embodies the Bohemian vibe that has existed on Folly Beach for the past hundred years. It is Steve's ambition to enhance and continue Dan and Ryan's aspirations to create a restaurant that is filled with the very will that everyone that comes through the door should feel like family!
It is our passion to offer value, build relationships, surpass expectations, and create memories. Our guests are the only ingredients in our recipe for success. They are not dependent on us – we are dependent on them. They are not an outsider in our business, they are a part of it. We are not doing them a favor by serving them, they are doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so! We welcome you to share our southern hospitality and create some island memories.
